Well-known for playing Shahrukh Khan`s grandmother in the 2002 film Devdas, Ava Mukherjee made her debut in the film industry in the year 1963 with a Bengali film Ram Dhakka. However, Mukherjee disappeared from the limelight soon after and was not seen in another film until the year 2000, when she was cast in the film Snip. After this, she went on to be cast in Devdas (2002), Darna Zaroori Hai (2006), and also played the protagonist in Detective Nani (2009). The actress tragically passed away at the age of 88.
