My Name Is Khan marks the debut film for distributor and co-producer Fox Star Studios, which had bought the rights for the film for a sum of ₹1 billion (US$21.87 million), making it the most expensive Bollywood film of 2010. My Name Is Khan premiered on 12 February 2010. The film received critical acclaim and commercial success, setting several box office records both in India and overseas markets, grossing ₹2.234 billion (US$48.86 million) worldwide and becoming the first Indian film to gross over ₹1 billion (US$21.87 million) in overseas markets.
